First of all - Welcome to EVPW... or Welcome back... or thank you for actually reading the announcements. Have a sticker.
This is a guide for all of you who are new or uncertain about the workings of EVPW. So let's jump right in.
-EVPW is a turn-based match-writing fed. Your matches will be performed by you and your opponents, who will take turns writing part of a match between the participants and leaving the end of your posts open for the other to use as a starting point for their post. These matches will take place on the board for the ongoing event (Either Wednesday Night Genesis or the PPV board) and cards will be posted on the starting date and will list matches for the week as well as a due by date and other pertinent information at the bottom of the card.
-Do not feel as though you have to write a lot. Matches are judged based off of the quality of RPer's posts, not the length of it. Here's a brief list of what judges will be looking for in determining who wins: match flow (how fluidly and naturally the contest progresses), how well you utilize the characters and match type, selling, pacing, spelling/grammer, and entertainment. That's not in any particular order and some judges may have preferences towards certain aspects among those, so please mind all of them.
-Two things that are heavily discouraged and will hurt your chances in a match are power-posting (when all or a large majority of the damage in your post is to your opponent and little of it to your own character) and double-posting (posting after one of your own post without giving your opponent a fair chance to respond). Here in EVPW, we have a 36-Hour Rule in effect in regards to double-posting. What this means is that once one person posts, their opponent(s) have 36 hours to respond before the last one to post can go again without consequences.
-When posting promos or matches, please keep in mind that EVPW is a smaller, less-funded fed. We aren't a national broadcasted federation like WWE or TNA. EVPW is an indy fed with a large cult following, akin or ECW prior to being bought by Vince McMahon or modern day CZW. Most of our money goes toward the matches themselves and the talent, so the equipment and lockerrooms are typically rather basic.
-Because EVPW does not have a television contract and airs it's programming online as well as performing before live audiences inside the Jared Nathan Memorial Gymnasium (formerly the Solid Core Gymnasium), it is also free of the typical regulations and rules federations have to play by. We tend to have more gimmick matches that feature much more excessive violence sometimes and profanity is welcome and frequently used.
-When cards go up, your match will be given it's own thread. Entrances are not expected and will be added into the intro post for the contest. Posting can begin immediately with the assumption that all stars are present in the ring. If you do not post in your match and an opponent does, it will be considered that your character lost, not that the match was called off or that they didn't show.
-If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm on everyday at least a small while and there is a c-box at the bottom of the site that many veteran members frequent.
-EVPW is a fed, but it is also a community. We often communicate with one another to work out plans for our feuds or matches and to b.s. Don't be afraid to do the same.
-When you are creating your contract for your character, you have two options available to you: a standard contract and a limited contract. Those with a standard contract will be booked on every show unless they request otherwise or put in a notice on the Absences board letting us know that they will not be around for some time. Limited contracts will not be booked unless they request to be. Please use whichever works better for your schedule, but know that stars with Limited Contracts will not be considered for title shots in order to ensure we have active champions.
-If you have a standard contract and do not show for a match, your contract will be switched over to a Limited Contract until you request it be switched back.
-Promos and segments building your character or hyping your match or just done for the sake of entertainment are encouraged and are a great way to build up your character and receive a bit of a push in terms of placement for your character and your matches.
