The scene opens with Tayler sitting on a chair gazing into a prone camera. There doesn’t appear to be anyone else in the room. He has his 2 year coin firmly planted in the palm of his right hand, which is open for the camera to see.
“The mistake you made Christopher was assuming you knew my demon. The darkness that haunts my every waking moment, you believed because I was Irish the coin represented a weakness, a propensity for booze; you mistook me for an alcoholic. You see almighty Jester; I have been clean for two years three weeks and four days. That is how long it’s been since I last fed my demon, it has been that long since I last tasted a drop, of violence.”
Tayler cracks his neck from left to right, taking a moment for himself almost savoring the thought of more violence.
“You see Chrissy the reason I stepped away from the business was because I was addicted to the chaotic carnage that serves as a backdrop to this company. I removed myself from this form of entertainment as I frequently found myself in random brawls at gas stations, bars or even hotel lobbies. At first local tough men wanted to show how strong they were, prove that what we do means nothing. You know the drill, the 300 pound fat ass see’s you in the lobby and decides they want to show off to that cow they call a wife. The next thing you know, you’re standing over a bloody carcass as the wife wails for the cops, that’s how it starts.”
Tayler slowly begins rolling the coin between his knuckles as his head sways from side to side. His eyes remain focused, firmly fixed on the camera allowing him to gaze directly at his audience.
“That’s where my problem started, I liked it. I began searching for people to start brawls with; the slightest look would set me off. I craved the violence, sure I’d wake up soar in the morning like we all do, given the physical barrage we put our bodies through in the ring but the violence fulfilled me. It was a sort of high, a way to quench the never ending thirst I felt. Honestly I thought I had it under control, I was confident that I was done with this life, until I got the email.”
He takes his phone out of his pocket and begins swiping and scrolling across the screen as if he is looking for the email in question.
“Then things just clicked into place and there you were. More than ready to run your mouth about all the naughty things you were going to do and how you needed revenge. I understand where you’re coming from Chris; you need this to be personal, because it gives you the edge you need to step into the ring. You want to run around talking about straw kingdoms and the ability to tell the truth. Well here it is, you can sit comfortable in your glass palace hiding behind your so called demonic persona living in your own fairy tale. In your world of straw kingdoms and all that other majestic bullshit, I am not the one hiding waiting anything to fall. I am the wolf knocking at your door and when you fail to answer, I’m going to knock that mother fucker down with a sledge hammer. “
Tayler stops dead in his tracks as someone briefly enters the room. The poor unsuspecting soul takes only a few seconds before realizing Tayler is not in the mood to be interrupted and turns promptly, choosing to leave the room of his own accord.
“Christopher this company has seen many sides of me, the jack ass who cracks jokes, and the guy who never shows up to matches. The one side they haven’t seen is the one I’m bringing to the ring on the 17th, I am focused on my career right now Christopher. I plan on moving past you onto the next unfortunate soul that steps in my path and dissecting them in the ring. I could sit here and crack jokes about people in glass houses or straw kingdoms but really, what is the point? Right now we have said everything that needs to be said, I know I’ve gotten under your skin Chrissy. Hell you have fallen for every placebo I have tossed your way. I don’t need to sit here and exude false bravado or spell out what makes me better than you because the world will find that out yet again on the 17th.”
Tayler holds his right hand up in the air making the sign for five.
“5 days, 120 hours, that’s how long you have before all these walls you have built up come crumbling down. Just like Brooks before him, Shadow is going to find out what you’re really made of and leave you high and dry. So take this time and enjoy what you have Chris, because you never know what you’ve got until it’s gone.”
Tayler stands up from the chair and walks out of the room, the camera fades to black on the still image of the coin that TNT has decided to leave behind him.
