As the door to the small corner pub creaks open before him, light from within pours across the face of the Romanian born star, almost blinding him for a moment. As he steps into the light, his eyes readjust slowly, able to make out the counter of the bar as he shuffles toward it, popping a seat next to a large patron and ordering up a Guinness. As the bartender begins to pour it, he looks around a little, a familiar sight beside him.
"Haven't I seen you on the side of a milk carton?"
"Ha. Ha. Ha. Very funny."
KingBear lifts his glass to his mouth and takes a large drink, setting it back on the coaster before turning to his fellow co-owner with a smile.
"You know the drill. If you're not the one caught up in things and busy as all hell, it's me."
Vlad accepts his own drink as the bartender sets it up on the counter with a feint grin.
"Fair enough. If I were a little taller, maybe people would think we're the same person. I suppose you'll be back soon then, right about the time I'm walking out the door, huh?"
"Are you though?..."
The GodKing takes a swig of his brew, looking down into the foam as he gives a light nod of his head.
"Yeah... this is it for me, Papa Bear. I've been putting it off for some time, but I think we both knew it was coming.."
"I don't know... I just feel like I've heard so many guys say they were done, only to pop back up a while down the road. And really, it's not like you're that old or anything. There's still not a soul in the world that's out of your league... hell, there's barely any even in your league as far as talent is concerned.."
"Perhaps so... but for how long? I feel myself getting weaker. My body won't be able to take all of this much longer, big man. I guess this is the price I pay for my ways, you know?"
"Yeah... it won't be the same without you though, I can tell you that.."
"More so than you know.. It's tough. Seeing the fans and everything and thinking that soon, it will all be over. Knowing my days are numbered. I'm glad I found you though.. I think I have one more trick up my sleeve, KB.. I'm going to turn this business on it's head one last time. And I need your help doing so.."
KingBear finishes his drink and laughs as he orders another.
"You? Needing my help? Now that's rich."
"Ever since Matt put me on the shelf, I vowed that I would never be left so powerless again.. I set up a sort of a contingency plan, man. Something to entirely alter the landscape of this business in my wake.. a parting shot, if you will.. Project Brimir.."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
The Barbarian Lord lays down a $100 and motions for a few more drinks with a smirk on his face.
"We have much to discuss, my friend.."
