It's another Saturday, another show-day in the Solid Core Gymnasium as the scene opens up inside the locker room area. It appears to be empty at first, but as the camera scrolls to one side, a figure of a man appears, sitting on one of the chairs inside the room. While instantly you couldn't say who the person is, the mystery vanishes the second the man lifts his head up. You couldn't mistake the face, or rather lack of it, with anyone else. "Billy", as he says you should call him, appears to be preparing for his match later tonight. The nameless one carefully wraps a white tape around his left wrist, making sure it's neither too tight, neither too loose. Once done, he spins his hand at the wrist clockwise a couple times, checking mobility. Once satisfied, Faceless prepares to repeat the process on his other wrist, but he is interrupted by the sound of the locker room doors opening. Reacting naturally, the masked one shifts his eyes towards the door, checking out who's barging in. Suddenly the tape falls out of Faceless hand, bouncing couple times on the ground, as the nameless one pretty much shoots out of his seat into a vertical position. This reaction and clearly un-easy body language of "Billy" would make you think a ghost just entered the room. And in one way, it was a ghost.
Lilly...
A sound of of high-heels can be heard for a couple moments before into the frame walks in a young woman. The unknown lady wears a rather simple plain white dress to go along her white high-heels and white purse hanging on her shoulder, while her head is covered by long black hair. A little subtle smile can also be seen gracing her face.
Wow... no one has called me that since... well since the last time you called me that.
Obviously, the face of the nameless one tells you nothing, but every other part of "Billy's" body tells you that he is in complete confusion and disbelieve. Lost in what to say, lost in what to do, lost in how to react. But after few seconds of awkward silence, Faceless finally gathers some words.
I'm... I'm sorry, Katie.
The young lady giggles a bit, as Faceless reaction kinda amuses her.
That's ok. I always liked that name. It's my favorite flower after all.
Faceless kind of laughs in agreement, but it's more of a awkward laugh. It's very clear that this encounter has made him incredibly anxious and felling out-of-place. Something no one or no thing has succeeded since his debut in EVPW.
How... how did you find me? How did you know it was me?
I might have quit the business long time ago, but just like yourself I still love it and follow it. And at first, when I saw this masked man, I didn't put too much thought of who it was... but eventually I started to take notice. The same mannerism, the familiar attitude... even that distorted voice coming from behind the piece of plastic on your face. It brought back memories and soon enough it was clear. It was you. And I know you better that probably anyone else.
Faceless remains fazed for a couple moments. Eventually he lifts one of his hands up and runs it through his hair, before grabbing a chunk of it almost if trying to rip it out. The thought of Katie standing right in front of him slowly started to sink in. And along with it, the confusion and awkwardness begins to go away. However, it is replaced by a lot more worse feeling. Feeling of immense, strong guilt.
Katie... I apologize. I could make up excuses for my actions, for unceremoniously shutting you away from my life. I'm sorry for the things I said. For the way I acted. I know I don't deserve forgiveness, but I...
Before Faceless can finish his sentence, he is interrupted by Katie's hand gently falling down on his shoulder. "Billy" looks up to the young lady and is surprised once more, as her face is covered by a friendly smile.
Stop. I forgave you long time ago. It's time you forgave yourself.
I... I can't... Not yet. I don't deserve it. Not until I pay for my mistakes.
Well just seeing you back, seeing you happy again... that makes me happy. And everyone deserves forgiveness eventually. But I understand you wanting to seek redemption. You always been that way.
Faceless laughs slightly again, but this time it feels genuine and real. This time the laughter felt easy. While you can't see his face, the mannerism of "Billy's" body speaks loudly. And it gives you a feeling like a weight of a thousand suns just rolled of his shoulders.
You don't have to accept and I will understand if you will decline, but maybe you would like to go get coffee sometime?
Yeah... Yeah I would like that. I think we're both ready to give this friendship another go.
Both of them don't say another word, instead Katie just reaches into her purse and pulls out a small card, handing it to Faceless. After another little smile, the young woman turns around and begins to walk away, soon leaving the frame. Seconds later the sound of the door opening and shutting again is heard. The nameless one continues to stand there and stare at the direction she went, while clinching the card in his hand, and this ends up the last picture as the scene goes dark moments later.
The End
