The crowd are amassed around the EVPW ring and a few cheers can be heard from the throngs as they await the Pre-Main Event. The spotlights shine through the haze and illuminate the squared circle as the lights begin to dim. As they ebb to almost nothing, the Titantron suddenly flickers to life. White noise is heard through the PA system whilst the screen remains blank. Abruptly, Rhaps’ face appears on the screen and he has a manic grin on his face as he stares into the camera. The crowd are unsure what to make of this spectacle, killing all life in the audience as they await what the inanely grinning superstar has to say for himself.
Rhaps: Helloooooooooooo EVPW. Its Rhapsy here and he has five words for you. Are you ready? Well you better be ready. And no, they weren’t the words Rhaps meant. They weren’t either. Come to think of it, when will they be uttered? Who knows? Actually Rhapsy does because he wants to say…..it’s good to be back!
Just as Rhaps finishes his moronic tirade, a marching band is heard as they play their way into the arena. The people in the crowd look stunned and some get out of their seats to leave. Rhapsy slowly emerges from behind the curtain and steps out onto the entrance ramp. He is sporting a plain black T-shirt with the words ‘How long’s it been?’ stitched into the material. Alongside this he is wearing a pair of knee length shorts with pink letters spelling out SIC covering it. The band continues to play loudly whilst the fans in the front rows cover their ears, clearly not loving the music. On cue, Rhaps throws his hands up in the air and they stop playing. He holds a microphone out in front of him as he gets ready to speak once more.
Rhaps: Hello EVPW. The Rhapsitastic One is back on your television screens. It was the moment you never wanted but tough, the SIC Maniac is here to Rhapsify and entertain and generally run amok all over Matt Violence’s face. Wait that sounded wrong, terribly wrong. Umm, not that. Rhaps is here to fight Matt Violence and we shall see who the better wrestler is. Now, before we get started, a pre-match snack is needed!
Rhaps breaks out a tub of strawberry ice cream and begins spooning it into his mouth at an alarming speed. After about 30 seconds, half of a pint of ice cream has been devoured and he shows little sign of stopping. A faint thud is heard as the empty tub hits the deck at his feet and he begins to open up a second one. A member of the marching band snatches it away from the Safety Ranger before imperiously pointing at the ring. Rhaps stands next to him and shoves his face an inch away from the young upstart. Casually he grips the tub and slowly extracts it from his mortal enemy’s hands before walking to the ring whilst eating the delectable treat. Lizzie Morna steps out with a microphone in her hand to make her announcement.
Lizzie Morna: The following match is a three falls of simplicity match. A winner will be declared after one superstar gains two pinfalls or submissions and each fall will be contested under singles rules. Introducing first; weighing in tonight at 219 pounds and hailing from Canterbury, England. He is the High Flying, Death Defying, Rhapsifying SIC Maniac. Rhaps!
Rhaps nods happily as he dumps the second empty tub of ice cream onto a fan. He walks to the apron before staring up at the ropes, an unnerving calm passing over him. In one smooth motion, he bunches his leg muscles before launching himself onto the ring apron. He then steps into the ring and walks to the centre, slowly removing his T-shirt as he does so. The Safety Ranger then flings the garment into the crowd before turning to face the entrance as the assembled marching band head backstage.
JP: This is Rhaps’ first match in EVPW for a long time so he’s got to be a mixed bag of emotions. Anxiety and excitement chiefly amongst them but how do you think Rhaps is going to do tonight? Any reservations about having someone like him on the card Ray?
Ray: Any reservations? Let me tell you, I have so many reservations right now that an entire population of a small African country can eat out in restaurants tonight. Firstly, he’s hogging the spotlight from worthwhile talents in the back. Secondly, the guy’s a loon and not a wrestler I ever wanted to see compete in an EVPW ring ever again.

As the dysfunctional marching band disappear backstage Rhaps and the fans anticipate the arrival of their Knockout Champion, Matt Violence. Instead of the typical "GO" intro, the fans are surprised to hear that MV has mixed it up a little with a different tune, perhaps as a celebration of sorts. The fans who grew up listening to real rock begin to cheer, excited to hear Matt's theme change for the better. Some actually go as far as singing along to Danzig's "Mother". Mother Tell your children not to walk my way Tell your children not to hear my words What they mean What they say Mother Matt steps from behind the black curtain. He wears his typical black cargo shorts with matching black wrestling boots. His shirt has Rhaps' face etched into the front and "#FUCKHISDAYUP" written across the back, all topped with his Knockout Championship over his shoulder. Matt pucker his lips and nods his head to the beat of the music. He smiles while looking out into the hundreds of EVPW fans and twirls a microphone in his fingers by his side. Lizzie Morna: "Making his way to the ring, he is your EVPW Knockout Champion, Matt Violence."As Matt begins to march to the ring, he begins to speak into the microphone. Matt Violence: "Cut my music, please. Thanks you. Tonight, the Safety Ranger himself returns to Eagle Vision Pro Wrestling! And what a honor it is Rhaps, to finally, after many years of watching your tapes finally get to go toe-to-toe with one of the greatest of all times."Matt reaches the ring, climbs in and hands his title to the ref. He stands a few feet away from Rhaps and continues on with his speech. Matt Violence: "So, by all means lets make sure this is one the fans won't dare to forget, like many of your past matches. What do yah say."Matt lowers the mic and extends his free hand out towards Rhaps, offering a shake.

Rhaps and Matt Violence stare at one another as the crowd suddenly seems to come alive. The Safety Ranger extends his own hand and both superstars share a handshake, both men staring into one another’s faces as if trying to read some form of emotion. This however proves to be a futile exercise as both men give nothing away. They break the handshake as the bell rings to signal the start of the match. Instantly, all decorum of civility is dropped as they begin circling one another ominously. There is a rabid look of determination in the Violent One, as if he somehow senses that this is his moment to take down the Ice Cream Eater. Rhaps continues to wear the manic lop sided grin, seemingly not taking this encounter very seriously. Both Superstars run at one another, their hands clamping down firmly onto the shoulders of their opponent as they execute a collar and elbow tie up. It quickly becomes a test of strength for both combatants, their faces balking visibly as they attempt to use their bodies as weapons to gain some form of advantage. Slowly, Matt Violence begins his slow and inexorable advance against the Rhapsitastic One. Inch by Inch he is driven back by the Hardcore Enthusiast. The crowd wait with baited breath as Rhaps is pushed back to within a few inches of the ropes.
Abruptly, Rhaps makes his move as he drops to his knees. The momentum from the sudden shift of the status quo sends Matt rocketing forwards at speed. Rhaps uses this velocity to bodily lift his adversary off the canvas before sending him back first to the ring mat with equal force. Matt Violence slaps into the canvas with a dull thud before he springs back to his feet like a wiry Terrier. Rhaps however has an answer for his opponent’s athleticism as he jumps into the air and lays his body out horizontally. The soles of his boots are kicked out with tremendous force; careening into The Violent One’s solar plexus with a sickening crunch. The force of the drop kick sends him back to the ropes as they give way slightly. The elastic in the ropes snaps taut and sends him back towards the centre of the ring where Rhaps has catapulted himself off of the far side of the gladiatorial arena. His shoulder is driven square into Matt’s chest as the shoulder barge takes him off of his feet. Exhibiting a veteran instinct of his own, the Real Life Rocky rolls out of the ring to the outside to put some distance between himself and the Rhapsitastic One.
JP: Rhaps is full of confidence tonight and I’m not sure if Matt Violence was expecting this from the Safety Ranger. He’s been away from EVPW for years and I’m not entirely sure what he’s been doing all this time but it doesn’t look like he’s missed a beat. Rhaps has taken control of this match and Matt has done the sensible thing. By going to the outside of the ring he creates that little bit if space he needs to regroup and get himself back into this match.
Ray: Shut up Jimmy. Your Rhaps worship really annoys me. I keep trying to educate you about which superstars you should be cheering for and all the time you talk about ‘wrestling ability’ this and ‘in ring talent’ that. That’s not the true hallmark of a great superstar. It’s about how ripped he is and how much I can perve on them. As such, Matt Violence should be world champion by now. I am starting a campaign from this moment on. More TV time for Matty V!
M to the V continues to collect his thoughts outside the ring whilst the raucous applause from the crowd ripples around the arena. Rhaps too stops his onslaught and signals for Matt to take as much time as he needs. The in ring official however has other ideas as he is already up to a count of four. The Make-Shift Wrestler instantly slides back into the ring to continue this wrestling clinic. As he does so, Rhaps breaks into a charging spring at him as he thrusts his arm out to the side. The Violent One however read this move from a mile away; easily ducking underneath the attempted clothesline. This time it is his turn to use the ropes to overcome inertia and to gain a bit of speed. His relatively light frame is flung into the air as he contorts his body, bringing his leg up straight across the Safety Ranger’s neck. Rhaps crashes into the canvas and the audience cheer audibly as the Leg Lariat connects with full force. The Ice Cream Eater tries to get back to his feet quickly but Matt continues to use his veteran instinct to his advantage. He has already closed the distance between the two men before ramming his foot into Rhaps’ cranium with a sickening impact. Rhaps’ head bounces off the ring mat like a piñata at a Mexican party. The cobwebs instantly begin to form as the flat of Matt’s boot proceeds to cave the side of his face into the unforgiving surface beneath him.
Having grounded the Rhapsitastic One; the Real Life Rocky drops to one knee beside his downed nemesis. He grips Rhaps’ close cropped hair and begins yanking at him to try to get him back to a vertical base. Rhaps responds to Matt’s encouragement and he is soon back onto his feet. The Violent One holds an arm tightly before pulling at it fiercely, Irish whipping Rhaps into a corner. He then breaks out into a run as he rams his shoulder into Rhaps’ gut, causing the slightly bigger man to crumple in half as he begins coughing and sputtering from the vicious impact. The Ice Cream Eater drops to his knees as Matt bunches a fist and begins pounding the life out of him while he has him trapped and wounded in the corner. The referee begins counting the disqualification, causing Matt to break his barrage of left and rights almost immediately. The Hardcore Enthusiast begins basking in the glory of this moment. Meanwhile, Rhaps begins exhibiting fresh signs of life as he begins to work his way back to his feet. Matt sees this and he attempts a clothesline of his own as he charges headlong at his adversary. Both competitors collide in the centre of the ring with a resounding thud as both men ram into one another with clotheslines. The ring shakes whilst both superstars lie stricken on the canvas.
JP: Both men had the same idea at the same time as Rhaps tried to regain some momentum. I’m not sure what is going to happen but you can be damn sure that this is going to be a long night for both of these men.
Ray: Matty V for world champion! Matty V for TV time! Cheer if you agree audience! Yes, you collective public huddled in like cattle, cheer for Matty V!
