a CRASH BARLEY roleplay...Crash was smaller and less massive then. He weighed just under two hundred pounds and was moving around the mat as quick as lightning. He looked odd, like any high school teenager would. His tight singlet straddled up his back and rode over shoulders and his head gear was bulky and covered most of his already large head. Barley had a determined look on his face as he peered across the mat lying on the gym floor. He knew that this was his chance to make a name for himself; to show the teachers, jocks, the ladies, and his mom that he was more than just a punk that grew up in the Bronx. He had only a few months left to prove himself and then it would be off into the real world. The crowd was ecstatic; the gym was filled. He could hear his mom screaming his name against the mass of others rooting against him. It was getting to him, the pressure of a state championship just a few minutes away. He would receive a medal, a trophy, and no doubt respect. Crash clinched his hands and he could feel it. Although it was completely abstract he could feel it riding underneath him. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “It is my time,” he spoke softly to himself. He waited for the bell and he stepped on the line preparing for what he thought would be his last wrestling match ever. The ref asked his opponent if he was ready and then asked Crash. The bell rang and the crowd cheered at the top of their lungs, the New York Wrestling State Cha… -[Lizzie Morna]-“Snap out of it Crash, you’re snoring. I could hear you from the end of the hallway.”Crash jolted quickly as he fell to the floor. Lizzie began to laugh at him as he scowled. He wiped his face and looked around to find Lizzie smiling at him from ear to ear. Barley nodded and pulled himself back up into the chair. -[Lizzie Morna]-“You shouldn’t do that Crash. You never know who may break in and attack you. I know you’re not the most adored person backstage.”-[Crash Barley]-“In case you haven’t noticed, I’m attempting to not be so irritable but it’s damn hard when you get woken up in mid sleep.”-[Lizzie Morna]-“Ah, don’t beat yourself up about it. You’ll always be the guy who stomps around and damns everyone to hell. That’s the only Crash Barley that I know.”-[Crash Barley]-“If I heard right, I’d think you were insulting me.”-[Lizzie Morna]-“Don’t be a hypocrite Crash. All I need is a few words. I think that you know the procedure. Give me your thoughts on this unknown character that everyone keeps talking about. He seems to have an ulterior motive for being here in EVPW.”-[Crash Barley]-“Yah know, this kid looks good on paper. Hell, he even pulled a few things out last week that I myself didn’t expect from him. Faceless has the talent to be a good wrestler but he needs to get his priorities straight. I know a lot of people can relate to this. Imagine going into a game of football just wanting to have fun. You can’t throw a damn party on the field; you’ll get your dick knocked stiff. Just because people around here wear weird hats, tight pink clothes, nice suits… that doesn’t mean that you have to waste talent like that. If I had any advice to give to Faceless, I’d tell him these exact words. ‘Faceless, one of these days you’re going to grow up and be a man. One of these days you’re going to leave the old childish ways and figure out that life is not a party. You lost your debut here in EVPW and quite frankly, if you expect to win at all, you better show up and quick jacking around.’ Now I know that there isn’t a rematch scheduled as of now but I feel certain that Faceless isn’t going to go down without a fight. If he wants any chance of beating me he better stop the Sherlock Holmes shit and man up. But anywho… like I said before, this kid is just another obstacle. After I beat his ass again, or a few more times if he’d prefer, then I’ll move on to the next joke that wants to get in my way.”-[Lizzie Morna]-“Now I’ve seen the card for this week’s show. Management put you against a local. Does that seem disrespectful at all?”-[Crash Barley]-“Don’t even get me on the topic of respect. Half of these fools can’t even spell respect with it right in front of them. As for the card goes, I would be ashamed to put someone like me against a chump like Michael Christopher. I can only imagine what he thought he was getting into when he signed up for this match. I will promise everyone one thing though. As part of my campaign to bring the hell back to Eagle Vision Pro Wrestling and to help overlook management's terrible booking, I will promise to beat this Mike kid in five minutes or less. If I don’t… then I’ll retire.”Lizzie’s eyes widen as she tilts her head in confusion. What a brave move by Crash Barley. She pats him on the leg and sends a smirk his way. Crash just rolls his eyes as she heads toward the door. He tilts his head back and rests it on the cold concrete wall. -[Crash Barley]-“Now… back to my dream.”word count: 938

The two competitors stand in the ring with their chest puffed. Johnson, the ref, gives them a each a 'ready, set' before the bell sounds. Both men, short in height, but big at heart steady themselves in as they lock up tightly. The huddle comes to a stalemate as both men push as hard as possible. Crash, with a little more strength eventually gets the upper hand. Barley scoots in and locks his right arm under the armpit of Mike. Crash bends down for leverage before lifting his shoulder throwing Mike straight into a front flip. The jobber lands firmly on his back and arcs his body in pain. Mr. Barley, not letting, presumes. He lifts Mike up by the back of the neck and drags him across the ring. Crash backs his opponent into a corner with a few hard shots to the skull; the time is now at a minute. Barley tugs on the arm of Mike before diving under to lift him up on his shoulders. He looks at the time on the clock lying on the commentators booth and smiles before lifting Christopher up with both arms. The crowd boos from left and right as Crash slams Mike hard against the canvas. -[Jimmy Pate]-"As cocky as Crash is right now, I can't help but to think that he has this in the bag. One and a half minute gone and he already has this kid crippled."-[Ray White]-"I couldn't believe it when Crash laid his career on the line! I guess he knew what he walk talking about. Wait, what is this?..."-[Jimmy Pate]-"It looks like... It's Faceless, coming down to the ring. Hell's fire, this could end up extremely... extremely bad!"TBC: It's short for a reason.

Indeed Faceless starts to make his way from backstage area, holding a mic in his right hand, while high-fiving fans with his left. The boos in the arena slowly turns to cheers and it catches Barley's attention. The veteran goes to investigate and quickly notices the nameless one. The look of confidence in his face disappears and is replaced by clear anger. The grappler from Bronx approaches the ring ropes and leans on them while starting to shout at the masked man.
What the hell are you doing here?!
Faceless hears Crash's screaming, but ignores it for a bit, continuing to circle around the ring, high-fiving and chatting with the fans. Finally he stops at the opposite side of where the commentators table resides and lifts the mic up to his hand.
Calm down there Mr.Barley. I come in piece. As I have said already, behind the mask and the wrestling attire resides a wrestling fans. So I came here to have a first row look at the action. I mean, a career threatening match - that's always exciting. And I'm all about excitement and fun. So I suggest you focus yourself on your match and not me.
Indeed Faceless was right in his words as this distraction gave just enough time for Barley's opponent to recover. Not wasting any time, Michael dashes towards Crash and rams his forearm into the back of Barley's head, catching him unexpected. The young grappler continues his assault by laying lefts and rights one after another, targeting veteran's back and head. Crash attempts to remove himself from harm's way, but is only backed into the corner, where Christopher resumes his energetic barrage of punches, throwing in a couple kicks as well. Seeing this gets the crowd rallied up and, encouraged by the nameless one, the audience begins to chant for the underdog.
Mickey, Mickey, Mickey!

As the clock nears the four minute mark Christopher continues to wail his body into Crash like a sick banshee. With all the adrenaline, Mike will not stop. Johnson scuffles over to the corner of the ring pulling Johnson away and giving him a warning. The stop watch reads 4:30. Crash, lifeless against the turn buckles, is pulled across the ring. Uncontrollably, Crash slams into the opposite turnbuckle belly first and staggers back barely able to keep his balance. Suddenly Mike slides toward Barley's legs, scooping his arm in between them and rolling him back for the pin. Crash flies back first toward the ring with momentum and is only caught on his back for a second. Crash manages to gather enough strength to continue the roll and land firmly on Christopher's chest. The ref quickly slides down as the clock reads 4:50. Crash waits for the first count. It seemed like forever. The second count comes, as Crash peers to the clock reading 4:53. He continues to press down on Mike with force as Johnson slaps the ring for a third count. Soon after, the alarm goes off, but only after the pin was made. -[Ray White]-"Damn, what an exciting match! That was the best five minutes of my life!"-[Jimmy Pate]-"You bet your damn buck it was. I can't believe that Crash bounced back from that... that just goes to show you that he's a damn good competitor."As Crash raises to his feet he is caught by the unknown one. Faceless gently lifts Crash's arm in the air calling him the victor. Crash, confused, sends an odd look his way. Faceless bows and shows the winner off to the fans who are hysterically laughing at Barley. Enraged, Barley leans back to chuck a swing toward Faceless. It barely misses. He Who Must Not Be Named quickly slides under the bottom rope escaping the ring. Faceless lifts one finger and tilts it back and forth all while shaking his head. -[Jimmy Pate]-"This is all just as confusing to us as it is Crash. The fans seem to be enjoying it though."-[Ray White]-"Yah know, I don't like this kid, this Faceless. He seems like a damn coward to me." Faceless turns and walks out of the ring leaving everyone with questions. EOT
